AI Transformation in Life Sciences: A Practical Guide to Getting Started

Laura Polin |

The Life Sciences industry is changing fast. Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to boost brand promises and help patients more than ever before. Many companies find it hard to turn the idea of AI change into something real. Nyron Burke, Co-Founder and CEO of Lithero, speaks to three simple tips for Life Science organizations to use AI well. These tips come from real stories and plans that work, based on the decade of experience Burke and his Team have in the industry.

1. Start Slow to Go Fast: Incremental AI Adoption

Adapting AI can be challenging at first. It's best to start small and build up. Small wins at first, can lead to big changes later. Think about starting with one brand or franchise. Test AI plans there first before scaling more broadly.

2. Build Internal Confidence

A successful small project can create confidence. People will get excited about AI, making it easier to get the broader organization on board.

3. Consider Data Integration and Infrastructure

Make sure your data is ready for AI. Even a small pilot needs the right data setup. Good data helps AI work its best. This requires pulling in the right stakeholders to ensure the infrastructure is in place.

4. Communicate Benefits to Different Stakeholders

Change your AI story for each division across the organization to make it relevant and help individuals understand how AI benefits them uniquely. Additionally, it’s critical that Leaders support AI changes. By involving leadership early in the process, the organization will have better adoption and success with the tools and overall adoption.

5. Quantify the Return on Investment

Like any successful pilot, it’s critical to have the right metrics in place to assess how AI tools are benefiting the organization. Whether it’s saving time, reducing costs or reducing compliance risks, ensure your organization has a clear measurement plan in place.

Changing a Life Science organization with AI requires a smart plan. By using these tips, organizations can use AI to make meaningful advancements for the organization and ultimately for patients.
